DVH Constraint Architecture

The Dose Optimization module accepts a set of DVH constraints for each structure: the PTV (target coverage goals) and all defined OARs (dose limits and mean dose objectives). Constraints are specified in standard clinical terms — D95 for PTV, Dmax for spinal cord, Dmean for parotids — and mapped internally to the optimization objective function.

The multi-criteria weighted-sum approach balances competing constraints. When all constraints cannot be simultaneously satisfied, the system presents a Pareto-front sampling allowing the physicist to choose the clinical trade-off explicitly.

Constraint satisfaction status is displayed per structure in real time during optimization, not only at completion. This allows early identification of unsatisfied constraints before full optimization convergence.
